Your next
generation of customers is changing the way internet
marketing may look. On July 13, 2006 it was announced that
MYSPACE moved into the number 1 position over Google and
Yahoo. Back in July 2004, the website accounted for just 0.1
percent of all internet visits. Since then it's grown to
become the leading social networking website both in the US and elsewhere. What does that mean
for your business? It means you need to be seen on the
scene.
Nic Jones of News Interactive
said, "Take your mind away from banner and buttons and start
thinking about profiles: clients set themselves or their
product up as a profile within itself.” If you are not
familiar with the new Myspace definitions of “profile” ,
“friends”, and , “invite” . It is time to catch up and
learn quickly because the Myspace demographic is starting to
grow in the 30 - 54 year old category and that means your
customers are out there.
Your product can become the hot
new trend on MySpace because of the viral connection of the
users. You are able to upload photos, video, and music to
your “profile”. You can then “invite” other users to be
“friends”. These “friends” have “friends” and so on.
Everyone is connected to everyone on MySpace.
How can you make MySpace work for
your company? Steve Gibson of Skyabove Marketing has started
to offer a MySpace profile to his many online marketing
plans, “It’s
a great way to network in an ever expanding group of diverse
people. Myspace can also be used as an excellent research
tool to keep your finger on the pulse of trends that could
affect your business”.
This is
advantageous to both wholesalers and retailers to start the
buzz on a new product or showcase a current product. A
business could have a main profile and then connecting
profiles for products that they would like to cross
–promote. It allows you to showcase your business and
products in an informal and personal style.
